1st Grade English Language Arts with Ms. Setili
We will continue working on the mechanics of using an apostrophe with possessive nouns in our writing.
In our spelling, we will focus on end blends. During Daily 5 centers, we will build and blend words with the blends (-nd, -st, -nk, -nt). This week, we will introduce the inflectional ending -ing to an action word (verb) to tell about something that is happening now. In our reading, we will focus on main idea (topic) and key details. In our writing, we will focus on sentences that explain facts (informational writing).

We are reviewing characters and setting. We are writing an explanatory/informative piece about skeletons. We will begin working on short e vowel sound.
We will learn more about character, setting, and events within a story. We will continue looking at nouns: common, proper, singular, plural, and irregular.
